Original file name: 20230707 164124

This multi-story commercial building features a distinctive curved corner facade clad in light-colored stone, with tall pilasters rising through the upper floors and regularly spaced windows. Ornate cast-iron balconies with scrollwork and shell motifs adorn the second floor, while a caduceus medallion and classical cornice detailing reflect the Beaux-Arts influence popular in Japan during the early 20th century. The rounded corner treatment, rusticated base, and restrained classical ornamentation are characteristic of Western-influenced Japanese commercial architecture of the Taisho and early Showa eras.
