The Lincoln Memorial features a peristyle of 36 Doric columns encircling a rectangular marble temple, modeled closely on the ancient Greek Parthenon. The structure sits atop a raised stylobate with broad ceremonial steps leading to the entrance, emphasizing monumental grandeur. Constructed of Colorado Yule marble, Indiana limestone, and Tennessee pink marble, the building exemplifies the American Neoclassical Greek Revival tradition.
