This is the Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate), the outer gate of Senso-ji temple in Asakusa, Tokyo, featuring the iconic massive red chochin lantern inscribed with '雷門' suspended beneath a sweeping irimoya-style tiled roof with elaborate bracket complexes (tokyō). The structure is characterized by its bold vermilion-lacquered columns, decorative green latticework panels, and guardian deity reliefs flanking the central passage. The gate exemplifies traditional Japanese Buddhist gate architecture with its layered bracketing, ceramic roof tiles, and rich polychrome ornamentation.
